A Guide to Botanical Brewing with Forbidden Root

Craft beer has exploded in popularity in the last decade, and with it comes an expansion in the ideas and processes behind traditional brewing. At Forbidden Root, Chicago's first botanic brewery, the brewing process is expanded past the traditional hops, grain, water, and yeast recipes of old.

Through their unique approach to brewing, they explore a rich world of ingredients, forgotten recipes, and creative flavors to deliver new textures, aromas, and experiences.

Join the CSIFT New Professionals group for a brewery tour accompanied by brew master Nick Williams, who will walk us through the ideas behind botanical brewing, and how it is set apart from its more traditional counterparts. This is sure to be an informative event full of food, fun, and of course, beer.

This program qualifies for IFT Certified Food Scientist (CFS) recertification contact hours (CH). CFS Certificants may claim a maximum of 1.5 CH for their participation in this program.
