Good food should do good. Atlantic Sea Farms is a vertically integrated kelp aquaculture company, representing 80% of domestic cultivated seaweed in the US. We are dedicated to making a powerful and positive impact on the health of our customers and oceans by creating craveable and innovative products made from sustainably farmed sea greens, all while expanding opportunities for Maine’s fishing communities.
98% of the seaweeds eaten in the US are grown overseas, but here in Maine, we have a uniquely overqualified workforce in the lobstering industry, and the health of our coastal communities is reliant on the future of our working waterfront.
Now, more than ever, we need food sources that can positively impact the economic and environmental health of our communities, and kelp is perfectly positioned to be that climate hero.
We’ll talk about how kelp aquaculture is activating sustainable, new, scalable opportunities in Maine, while growing and harvesting the highest quality kelp available, and why that is important in food and climate futures.
We’ll also discuss how chefs and food innovators are using Atlantic Sea Farms kelp all over the country to develop new product lines, extractions, recipes, and more in the food service, ingredient, nutraceutical, and retail space.
Jesse has spent her career promoting food with
integrity and activating the edible approach to healthy communities, economies, and environments.
Before joining Atlantic Sea Farms in 2019,
Jesse worked with national and international mission driven food and beverage companies to tell their sustainability stories and educate
consumers.
Jesse, a native Midcoast Mainer, is deeply rooted in the lobster industry, and is dedicated to growing kelp aquaculture opportunities, providing new and sustainable ways for fishing families to diversify in the face of climate change, and continue to work on the water for generations to come.
