New Professionals
A New Professional is anyone working in the food industry 10 years or less. The New Professionals Committee plans social events around the downtown Chicago area as a fun way to network with likeminded peers and to reconnect with former classmates and coworkers.
For the 2011-2012 IFT year we are very much looking forward to increasing New Professional involvement not only within Chicago Section but IFT as a whole. Our objective is to bring a sense of comfort to those new in the industry. We help recent graduates get their foot in the door leading to success within this vast yet very small food community. If we can help ease newcomers into Chicago’s food community, we feel confident it will help them develop the necessary skills to form connections all over the country and possibly the world – personally and professionally. We achieve this by hosting events where one is surrounding by their peers, people wearing the same slightly uncomfortable new shoes, and open a line of communication help break them in.
